There was some very cool displays at C2E2 that were not for sale but just fun to look at. First up here are some artifacts and props used in the Iron Man movie!
"This but a scratch."
"Your arm's off!"
"I've had worse. Come on you pansy!"
The man himself, the Iron Man. Ready and willing for photo opps!
Ooooh, Tony Stark stuff!
Uh oh. That's an owie. Don't worry, a little paint and Bondo and it'll be as good as new.
"What the hell's a gigawatt!?" Check out this replica of the Delorean Time Machine from back to the future. I know what you're thinking and yes the flux capacitor was fluxing.
The Batmobile in all it's sleek retro beauty. Those were the days. Back when Batman and his young life partner Robin would cruise around Gotham in style.
I'm not exactly sure what these were from. But we sure took some pictures of elm. Why? Cuz they are coooool.
Nothing like a futuristic attack helicopter to keep law and order in a dystopian world.
As I mentioned in part 1 of my C2E2 review, Josep's table was right next to the 501st. Everyone loved this helmet featuring all the logos of the various 501st chapters from around the country. It inspired me to do my own work of art with a stormtrooper helmet someday.
Young and old alike were geeking out over this remote controlled Astromech droid. No R2-D2 didn't dye himself purple. This is actually R2-S5. Not only did it move by remote control it also had working lights and sounds.
Even my friend Josep stopped selling his comics for a second so he could get a pic with the little "overgrown glob of grease." Thanks to my friend James we also have a little video clip here of R2-S5 in action!
Venders
Enough lookin' lets go shoppin'! There were plenty of venders at C2E2 selling everything from comic books and original art to Star Wars toys and Lego.
This guy's cranky, best just to pay him and move along.
These shirts were hilarious. They are Spoiler Alert shirts that give the punch line to popular films with twist endings. Maybe you've seen similar YouTube videos like that. Well now you can spoil movie endings for people where ever you go.
"I'm so happy I peed a little!"
This company had a booth at WonderCon as well. They are Graphitti Designs and have some nice looking stuff.
The obligatory cube of t-shirts. Josep wanted to buy me a Wonder Woman shirt but after I demonstrated her patented twirling transformation maneuver right there in the middle of the aisle he had a change of heart.
Is that a big Totoro up there? I love Studio Ghibli movies so these plushies gave me fits of joy.
Comics? Of course there were comics at the comic book convention. Oh so many comics there were to be had. And often at reasonable prices.
Also, many booths had signed original comic art for sale. Very nice to collect, frame and stare at.
Everyone I talked to who was at C2E2 said they were drooling over these glasses.
Check it, yo. Imagine quenching your thirst with an ice cold drink served in an Incredible Hulk glass tumbler. The possibilities are unfathomable.
This was all Manga. It was like a little mini library of Manga. I suggest you start off with Ranma 1/2 and work up to Death Note. Just a suggestion.
The Toy Cave? At first I thought it said The Toy Cack like from the Dr Chan cartoons. But no it's the Toy Cave and they had some tasty nostalgic collectibles for sale. I almost bought a nice plush Gizmo they had.
This booth was all about Doctor Who. They had a semi-life sized Tardis police box and a David Tennant standee. Plus there were all the neat looking toys based on the show. I so wanted to get a Sonic Screwdriver to call my own.
K-9 is guarding the Doctor's iconic trench coats. I believe they are having a Doctor Who Convention this November in Lombard, IL. Be sure to check that out all you Doctor fans.
Holy plastic dream. Check out all the action figures. Remember when Toys had like three aisles all dedicated to action figures? Now they have like one aisle and the selection isn't any good. Sadly I think diaper and bicycle sales are the only thing keeping Toys a float these days.
Wow! is that a giant Yoshi? This bad boy was like 4 feet tall. I also like the Watto back pack. I have a picture of a little girl wearing this little Huttlet in the costume gallery.
Comics for just a dollar!? And check out all those character busts and statues. I saw a lot of people carrying these things around that they had bought at the con. I think you'd need some kind of glass case or something to really display them. Or at least a mantle.
Lego! You all know Lego is a bit of an obsession of mine. This booth was selling custom minifigs and even Lego jewelry. The lady here was very nice and I told her I did my own Lego blog. She gave me her card and said I could share a link to their site www.ericksonbrick.com
Yep it's a whole wall of plushies. It's like the scene in E.T. where he is hiding in the stuffed toys. Wait, I think I see an E.T. mixed in here. Who else can you point out. It's like a Where's Waldo Puzzle. Here's your challenge. Can you find The Tick, Snagglepuss and The Punisher?
Star Wars toys! Every vehicle you could imagine was on sale here. They wanted $90 for the AT-TE walker there in the bottom right. I should have got it because they go for over $150 on eBay. Apparently there was a recall because the legs fell off too easy. Hardcore collectors figured out a strategically placed pencil eraser would fix the problem. Don't ask me how I know all this.
There you have it folks, thus concludes my review of C2E2. I hope having read this review you feel like you were a part of the C2E2 fun. Make sure you drop me a comment on my blog and let me know what you thought about it or if you recognized some one in the costume gallery.
