Lego Store at Disney World

Late last summer some friends and I went to Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida! It was so much fun and now that it's summer again I am longing to be back there now. One of the highlights of my trip was visiting the enormous Lego Store in the Downtown Disney Marketplace. So here for your viewing pleasure is my tour of one of the greatest Lego stores in America.

Here is the building and as you can see it looks like it's made of Lego bricks. There are my friends in the right corner. You'll see them in most of these pics. They live in another state and I miss them a lot.

This is the huge interactive play zone. Each of those big yellow tables were full of Lego you could build with. The kids (and adults) were going crazy over all those huge piles of Lego.

The main attraction of this Lego Store are all the massive Lego sculptures they have. This sea serpent must be like 60 yards long. Just the head and neck shoot up 25 feet out of the water. Plus, notice the "hidden Mickey" in the cast iron fence.

John Hammond - We clocked the T-rex at 32 miles per hour.
Dr. Ellie Sattler - T-rex? You say you’ve got a T-rex?
Dr. Alan Grant - Say again!
John Hammond - We have a T-rex.

Apparently they also have crabs. Er, I mean they have one really big red crab.

And check out these chompers! This Lego shark could give Jaws a fright. I don't know if you can read the sign in the lower right corner but it tells people not to climb on the rocks or models "for your own safety." Yeah right. They just don't want you tearin' up the sculptures. That and they don't need a big lawsuit if you tried to ride on the shark and fell off.

The only security system the Lego store needs - a thirty foot tall Lego attack robot.
"Drop those Lego boxes and put your hands in the air human!"

I can't tell where the Lego people end and the real people start. Can you? Everyone needs a life sized Lego dog. You can't tell me different. Notice those big round dioramas on the outside wall of the Lego store? Scroll down to take a closer look at each one.

Ah Paris! Many of the famous landmarks are here like the Eiffel Tower and the Arch De Triumph. But wait. Is that Cinderella's castle on the left? Yep, you can tell this is the Disney World Lego store.

Moscow's famous Saint Basil's Cathedral. The domes are even snow covered. I love how the little figures are ice skating on the frozen moat.

Here's the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbor Bridge. I wonder if Dori, Marlin and Nemo are swimming around in the harbor!

London's Big Ben, Parliament and Buckingham Palace. Look at all the little details like the red telephone booth, double decker bus and subway track.

Traffic jam!

Africa. Who hasn't made animals out of Lego before?

Nice little Lego town. Life must be sweet living in a Lego town.

They you have it folks. Hope you enjoyed this little tour of the Lego Store at Downtown Disney Marketplace in Disney World.
